The welcome return of live events

Having embraced digital events over the past year, the events industry is looking forward to welcoming back delegates to the live events restart.  The government roadmap currently names 17th May for limited capacity conferences and 21st June for all events, all being well.

Virtual events have proved to be hugely successful and are not a new concept.  Of course they provide sustainable and cost effective ways to bring large groups of people together.  Furthermore, the industry has proved itself to be agile and innovative in respect of reformatting traditional events.  However, there is definitely an appetite for the collective experience of physically coming together for events once again.

The Event Industry News reports that venues have seen nearly 300% increase in enquiries since the roadmap announcement.  It is interesting that this is predominantly for celebratory events, such as awards ceremonies, as well as conferences.

Having welcomed the format of virtual events out of necessity, it is widely acknowledged that many events will become hybrid meetings.  So that both in person and virtual attendees are anticipated to be fully involved.  This will both enhance event flexibility as well as challenge the creativity of event organisers.
