Barry McGuigan is a renowned former boxing champion and media personality. In 1978 he won the Gold at the Commonwealth Games in Edmonton. He went on to win the British featherweight title in 1983, when he was also European champion, and in 1985 he became the WBA featherweight world champion against Eusebio Pedroza in front of a record British TV audience of 19 million. Barry is also a winner of the prestigious BBC Sports Personality of The Year Award. As well as making regular appearances on Question of Sport, They Think It’s all Over, This Morning, GMTV or Mel and Des, Barry is the first point of reference whenever boxing makes the headlines. In 2007 Barry McGuigan was crowned Head Chef of ITV’s culinary reality show Hell’s Kitchen. The 46-year-old television boxing expert beat off competition from 10 other celebrities in the public vote. Barry can offer both motivational speeches where he talks about what it takes to be a champion, and entertaining after dinner speeches with anecdotes of his career as a boxer.
