Mike’s current goal and forthcoming adventure is to become the first blind person to drive a car unassisted at over 200mph. No stranger to this exciting sport, Mike has already held three world records, and currently holds the land speed record in the UK.

Mike is a remarkable man, who over the years has developed a great love for motor sport. Once a bank manager, he is now the founder of ‘Speed of Sight’ and is solely committed to breaking records whilst also raising both awareness and funds for organisations such as, Vision Charity of which he is a patron, The Royal RAF Association and Guide Dogs for the Blind.

As if all of the above is not enough, Mike is also hoping to break the world blind water speed record. This currently stands at 99.19mph and Mike and his team are currently working on the ‘super boat’ which he hopes will help him to achieve this goal.

Mike’s passion and enthusiasm for accomplishing that which only one other person has ever managed, is truly incredible. When he becomes the British and World record holder of those records, he will be in exalted company; that of Sir Donald Campbell who set both world land and water speed records in the same year (1964). However, Mike’s achievements will be all the more extraordinary because he is blind.

He is an accomplished inspirational speaker and feedback on his presentations includes:.

“Mike is absolutely amazing not only with what he is trying to achieve with his Speed of Sight but as a motivational speaker I know none better.” Elaine Allcroft MIoEE

“Mike was a great ambassador for the VISION 2020 global cause. His inspirational speaking and natural way with people helped us to engage with the public and raise awareness”. Abi Smith Communications Manager at Centre for Policy Development
