Stephen K Amos is the former Winner of the Time Out Best Stand-up prize. Amos is a real ‘personality’ comedian; a powerful presence that always overwhelms his audience by the positive, feel good energy he exudes. He has some very fine jokes and his clever and good-natured ribbing is especially neat – with Amos, it really is his delivery and compelling bonhomie that’s hard to fake. Stephen has performed stand-up at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe every year since 2003 and hosted the Edinburgh Fringe Weekend Talk Show. He regular appears at The Comedy Store London and is resident compere at several established comedy clubs. Stephen has appeared in the Australian Great Comedy Debate. He also appeared on the Network Ten improvisational comedy, Thank God You’re Here, The ABC game show Spicks and Specks and the Mad Monday edition of the Channel 9 game show Bert’s Family Feud. He has performed in Australia for the Melbourne International Comedy Festival and also appeared at the New Zealand International Comedy Festival. Although he is most happy in the live arena, he is no stranger to the screen, having appeared on shows like Have I Got News For You, Time Gentleman Please, Mob Rules, The Casting Couch, Good Stuff, The 100 Greatest Scary Moments, plus his own TV documentary and had rave reviews from The 2008 Royal Variety Show. On the big screen, he has appeared in Absolute Beginners as well as Hawks, Soweto, Young Soul Rebels and Downtown Largos. Warm and wickedly funny with an ability to charm onlookers into his own personal world of strange characters, situations and thoughts brought to life by his fantastic energy and warmth, he is a popular choice as a comedian and indeed a host for corporate events. “Stephen’s delivery really is excellent. When he speaks you listen. He is able to switch in and out of characters i.e. he genuinely becomes actors in the tale he is telling”.
