Breakfast Business Correspondent Steph has covered all major financial events in the last decade. She is a past winner of the prestigious BIBA Broadcast Journalist of the Year. In 2016 Steph began co-hosting the BBC series Shop Well for Less with Alex Jones.
Steph won the prestigious Young Engineer for Britain Award, after saving Black & Decker over £1m on a design. She went on to become the main producer for daily financial news on the Today programme on Radio 4. Steph was producer for the then economics editor, Evan Davis, when the recession hit and has covered the financial situation ever since. For three years Steph was the lead producer of business news on the One, Six and Ten O’Clock news bulletins. Working with the business editor, Robert Peston, Steph was heavily involved in the award-winning coverage of the credit crunch and recession. She has also worked as a business presenter on the Chris Evans Drivetime show on Radio 2 and as a financial reporter for 5Live and regular on Wake up to Money and On the Money. Steph is much in demand as both a business and after dinner speaker & conference host. “I just wanted to let you know that Steph McGovern was fantastic as our co-host at the CIA Awards last Thursday. She was extremely down-to-earth and charming and had a brilliant rapport with the guests. Even when the noise levels were creeping up a little, she managed to quieten them down with subtlety and humour. She even took time to personally go around the tables to congratulate the winners afterwards. She was by far, one of the best presenters we have had at the awards.” Chemical Industries Association
