Gavin Esler

Award winning broadcaster, novelist and journalist, Gavin is part of the core presenting team on Newsnight, for BBC2, and on the BBC News Channel.

He has authored five novels and two non-fiction books. Gavin's most recent non-fiction work is, "Lessons from the Top, How Successful Leaders Tell Stories to Get Ahead - and Stay There." He looks at what effective leaders, from several fields - business to politics, have in common and how they make us want to follow them.

He has reported for news and documentary programmes across Europe, Russia, China and North and South America, and was accredited to the White House to cover the Bush and Clinton administrations.

Gavin began his career as a reporter on The Belfast Telegraph. He joined BBC Television as Northern Ireland reporter and then BBC 2's Newsnight as a reporter/presenter.

He received a Royal Television Society award for his reports on the military build up in the Aleutian Islands as part of the Reagan administration's New Maritime Strategy.

He also writes a weekly column for The Scotsman newspaper.

Gavin is an excellent choice for after dinner speaking and facilitating events.
